Traditionally, landscapes have served to accentuate and delineate a property and home.  Its purpose was as an enhancement to the house and little else.  In recent times we have expanded our use of outside spaces; they have become a part of our home, an extension of our houses and an expression of ourselves.  They are spaces for play, entertainment, work and sanctuary.  We require both beauty and functionality.  All this, while paying close attention to the necessary dictates of design such as the surrounding environment, climate, pre-existing landscape, as well as budget.
